void survive()

Privacy and support

void survive() is made by Method and Myth. This page explains, in plain English, what the game can send us when you choose to share anonymous usage stats.

What the game counts

Usage stats are off by default. If you switch on Share anonymous usage stats in Settings and Controls, the game sends a small number of events to help us learn where players get stuck: a session started or ended, a tutorial step was finished, a script was edited for the first time, a golem was lost or reclaimed, the Forge moved to a new region, and the Wishlist or Discord button was clicked. On the web version it also reports unexpected errors (a short message and the file and line where it happened).

Each event carries the game version, the platform (web, Windows, Linux or macOS), where you got the game (itch.io or Steam), and two random numbers: one made when you first opt in on your device, and one made fresh for each session you share. Neither is linked to your name, your Discord account, your saves, or the scripts you write.

What we never collect

No names, accounts, email addresses, IP addresses, browser or device fingerprints, location, save files or script text are stored. Our server sees your IP address only long enough to stop floods of requests, the same as for every other request the game makes, and does not keep it. There are no cookies and no advertising or third-party trackers.

How long we keep it

Events are stored in Cloudflare Workers Analytics Engine and are deleted automatically after about three months. We only look at totals, such as the share of players who finished the tutorial.

Your choice

Before you opt in, the game sends no usage events or automatic error reports and stores no random install number for analytics. Your choice is remembered on this device. Existing players also start with usage stats off; older settings do not count as permission.

Open Settings and Controls and switch off Share anonymous usage stats. The game stops sending events right away and deletes the random install number from your device. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, the web version treats that as switched off. Switching it back on creates a brand-new number.

Bug reports

Bug reports are separate and only sent when you file one. A report includes what you type, a screenshot, basic system details, a summary of the game state and, on the web, recent browser console messages. Reports are used only to fix bugs.
